We are looking for a seasoned technical leader / solution architect in the area of CPE provisioning and network management. We offer an opportunity to work on defining and delivering state-of-the art solutions in emerging technology areas, such as mobile access.

The current project involves provisioning and management of Femtocell devices. You will be responsible for defining technical direction for a cross-functional solution which includes internally and externally developed products + services. This position offers an opportunity to make a visible impact on some very high-profile projects within Cisco and the industry.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in defining complex technical solutions in the network management space in consultation with external customers, vendors and partners. Spearhead the development effort of the solution.
• Identify requirements for complex systems & translates them into software architecture and actionable technical roadmaps.
• Engage with engineering team to implement the architectural vision. Steer the team through any necessary changes identified during the development process.
• Effectively communicate solution architecture externally and internally during pre-sale activities, definition, development, delivery and support stages.
• Author system functional specifications and architecture specification and technical agreement documents. Review technical specifications.
• Make strategic technology choices and define technical requirements with vendors and partners.
• Define technical requirements for external vendors.
• Assist management in identifying and managing technical dependencies and contingency plans.
• Prepare technical collateral for the product/solution. Author whitepapers and assistant with developing training material.
• Anticipate technical challenges and propose solutions.
• Serve as the technical subject matter expert on the product/solution for customers and other stakeholders.
• Initiates projects that will have a broad applicability in Cisco’s product line applying unique approaches.
• Responsible for technical content of design reviews and code walkthroughs. Takes a leadership role in the technical content of the system specification/unit functional specification
• Help engineers to find ways to attack new or difficult problems. Develop or consult on internal training programs. Act as a general technical resource for engineers.
• Provide the last line of technical support on the most challenging issues arising in deployments.
• Stay informed about relevant standards and industry best practices. Influence standards in the direction favorable to Cisco and our customers.
• Define key IPR and submit patents.
• Assist sales with RFI responses and other product management activities requiring technical input. Help business development in evaluating new business opportunities.

Technical Knowledge, Skills & Expertise*
• As a solution-level technical leader, your technical knowledge has to both broad and deep. Extensive experience with networking technologies is expected along with specialist knowledge in select areas of expertise. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new complex technologies.
• The position requires expert knowledge in many technical domains and disciplines including operating systems, programming languages, databases, distributed systems, security, web technologies and network management.
• This position requires experience with complex distributed systems and network management protocols such as SNMP, TR-069. Good knowledge of HTTP, XML, SSL, SOAP, TCP/IP, UDP, sockets.
• Expertise with the following is highly desired: 3GPP mobile standards, embedded systems, provisioning systems, element management systems, high scale systems, performance tuning.
• Background with SP-grade software. Working experience with Unix (Solaris, Linux).
• Demonstrated experience with leading several full life cycles of a product or a solution.

Initiates informal reviews of ideas and technical objectives within and across business units. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed by management and through consultation from a relatively long time perspective for results.

Responsible for technical decisions that will affect project, functional unit and/or deadlines. Is viewed as a technical resource by peers in the same organization. Partners with client groups in a team setting, taking ownership of their objectives to achieve business results. Evaluates and sells alternative solutions, effectively influencing outcomes

Inspire team/organization success through positive feedback and constant support. Able to represent Cisco by communicating technical business capabilities and strategies externally.

Uses acquired professional knowledge to determine method for issue resolution. Exercises judgment within defined standards of the industry. Uses expertise and creativity for innovative product recommendation and solutions. Applies knowledge of Cisco’s business strategies.

Typically requires BSEE/CS or equivalent with 10+ years relevant experience in internetworking technologies and applications.
